Tube Time

Today was the final day that we could fit in anything we really wanted to do so Jane and I made a list then planned the tube lines we needed to utilise.

We began with a visit to Westminster Abbey - a must do - Alan and Ellen came too. Firstly, someone has cleaned it, we didn't know it was really almost white. Such an ancient building and so interesting. You feel guilty walking on the centuries old tombs set into the floor as the inscriptions gradually get worn away.

Next stop, Portobello Road, where we wandered around the stalls, drooling over the fresh fruit, laughing at the vintage fashion (some of which we used to wear) and checking out the antiques.
After a very healthy lunch of a variety of salads it was off to Camden Markets. We are probably a generation or two past the wares on offer here but what a fun place. Many of the buildings had huge models stuck on the front.


Last stop and 8th train, was Hamleys, a monster toy shop over 5 floors. It really would be every child's dream to go there. The Lego models were fantastic.

We did manage to restrain ourselves.
It is noticeably colder now- apparently there is an Arctic Blast coming down, us Australians find that a bit hard to cope with, even Aunty Jane who lived in the South Island for a fair while.
Tomorrow we are all off to Paris on the Eurostar. It will be really interesting to see the security levels at St Pancreas.
