Tour Eiffel

'Let's walk to the Eiffel Tower,' says I, 'It's only a half hour walk away'.We arrived there around an hour and a half later - turned out to be 5kms away from us! Oh well, it was a clear, sunny day albeit a tad cool at 4 degrees. I did cop a bit of flack though.

Wall garden extrordinaire

Paris is so lovely to walk around, the buildings are fascinating and you spend most of the time looking up. Found one with the biggest wall garden I had ever seen. Memories of past visits kept flashing past - miss my family.








It was quite different at the base of the Tower. No one stopped us along the way to 'give us back' our gold ring. There were no guys selling souvenirs from mats scattered on the ground while there were heaps of armed police and soldiers. Jane and I took the elevator to the top. A visit to the Champagne Bar was a must.

Nothing like a champagne when looking at Paris

The view, of course, was amazing although we were quite surprised at the amount of smog hanging over Paris.

A taxi back allowed a bit of time for souvenir shopping and a rest before our visit to Moulin Rouge tonight
