Farewell London

It actually snowed a little this morning, thought it was cold last night! We farewelled our Australian friends from the breakfast room at Rydges. Lovely blokes - they provided one of the few places we could buy a flat white coffee in London.






Arrived at the Eurostar quite early and security was rather tight - understandably. Noticed that the Brussels train was very late and there were signs everywhere advising that there was no public transport working in Brussels. Found out about the terrorism threats when we caught up with the news later.

Eurostar was a very smooth ride - it always amazes me just how quickly it gets through the tunnel - seems like you enter it then blink and you are arriving in France.






We had booked a lift to take us to the apartment and Alan's hotel. It was raining quite heavily in Paris when we arrived but didn't seem as cold.
The apartment is very comfortable and the Ile de St Louis is as terrific as I remembered. Full of quaint shops and old buildings. Our apartment has huge beams in the ceiling but is quite modern in the facilities - a rough guess would date it around 1700-1800.
Stocked up at the little, local supermarche as we were set.
Ah Paris!!!
